That "Top 10 comic writers" discussion....

Are you SERIOUS about taking Frank Miller off the list!? Really?

I'm not even that big a fan of Frank Miller. I agree he's not done something noteworthy in a long time. But he is, without a shadow of a doubt, one of the most important creators ever. After Stan Lee, he's probably the most famous comics creator amongst the mainstream. The Dark Knight Returns. Batman: Year One. His work with Daredevil and Wolverine. He was a major figure in shaping the evolution of the superhero genre in the 1980s, and as far as being an influential, pivotal figure from that period of comics history, he's right up there with Alan Moore. Throw in his creator-owned work like Sin City, 300, Ronin, and more, and think all the influence and success they've had, his inclusion is a total no-brainer. AND consider how major a figure he was in blurring the lines between comic creator and Hollywood producer - acting as co-director of Sin City. He's an essential figure. If it was a top five list, he'd be a no-brainer for that list too.

The argument that he doesn't done any good stuff in recent years is baloney, as it also eliminates most of the other names on your top 10. Stan Lee? Chris Claremont? Denny O'Neill? Gardner Fox? Len Wein? What stellar work are they currently writing on a month-to-month basis?

Denny O'Neil has been writing Spirit stories for the last year at DC. They're really, really good.

I'd have to also say, why no Mark Millar? Warren Ellis? Garth Ennis?
