Because you demanded it! The Secret Six are back in an all-new ongoing series that promises to deliver some of the darkest, most twisted action-adventure the DC Universe has seen since...well, the last time the Secret Six got together! Writer extraordinaire Gail Simone (BIRDS OF PREY) is reunited with BIRDS penciller Nicola Scott to chronicle the adventures of the Six, and you will not believe what they have in store. Join Catman, Scandal, Deadshot, Ragdoll, and ?? as they prepare for an adventure that will take them through a gauntlet across the seediest parts of the DC Universe, and will ultimately pit them against a foe more monstrous and murderous than any they've had to face! Don't miss the beginning of the most ferocious and scandalous Six story yet!
Reviewer Comments:
And Gail Simone does it again. The long awaited, much anticipated, ongoing series for The Secret Six is a phenomenal comic. Darkly funny, yet all serious, the first issue hits the ground running and never slows down. Gail manages to make these villains likeable and even noble, after a fashion, without making them nice. No rehabilitated villains playing hero in here, but no irredemable psycho-sociopaths, like the current THUNDERBOLTS team, either. Don't get me wrong, I love me some T-Bolts, I'm just trying to emphasize the uniqueness of Gail's accomplishments. Her character driven story delivers some wonderful moments of interaction as we get to know 5 of the 6 members of this current incarnation of the team.
Nicola Scott & Doug Hazlewood do a beautiful job with the artwork. Very fluid and lifelike, with movements to die for. I'm talking Maguire-level facial expressions. I hope they stay on the book for a good, long while!
And next issue promises the Catman/Batman fight we've all been dying for!
Secret Six #1 was hands down, the absolute best this week had to offer!
