I can't comment on SI, but FC, so far, has been disappointing. Did #4 come out this week? I have to run up to the shop this weekend. Hrm.
I'm holding out hope, but its felt very lukewarm at best through #3, and then what is with JG jones not completing it? He issued an apology, but, man... its just really fallen apart!
Is it worth it?
Rogues Revenge, Legion of Three Worlds, and (i'm guessing) Rage of the Red Lanterns say YES!
IE - Just hand over the DCU to Geoff Johns and get it over with. hahah
And let the guy script a dang superman movie!
vent over.

JOHNS IS DCS BEST WRITER..........MORRISON IS THROWING DC INTO THE RIVER WITH CRISIS AND RIP.
I was fairly un-initiated with morrision until I started reading AS superman, which... is quite possibly the best comic in... decades. But! I went and read RIP and now FC... and was not very happy with those. I read an interview that said AS Superman (tempting to make an acronym), was abnormal for him... so maybe I just don't like his stuff.
I dunno. I heard his flash and JLA stuff was good though....

Y'know what... I also liked 52.
Soo.. I dunno. FC is bland (although, some of the might be attributed to JG Jones... who is good at certain things, but I question him as the right choice for FC), and RIP is just... I don't even know what he's trying to accomplish there.
Oh well. I think that DC has a lot of other great stuff going for them that they don't really have to worry about FC or RIP tanking them too much. Though its mostly upcoming Johns books that have got me going... His FC tie ins, and New Krypton in particular.... oh... and a little something called
FLASH REBIRTH
and....
BLACK LANTERNS
oh yeah baby... like i said.. just hand the universe over to Johns!
done deal!

woo hoo!!!!!!
Say, I just got FC 4... its starting to pick up a little. It might, though, be because I'm a sucker for the Flash stuff (and I take back a bit of my JG Jones gripes, cause the panel where barry kisses Iris was a great Carmine Infantino throwback).
THOUGH, i thought that "Flash Widow's Club" comment was oddly placed-- and also Barry's comment about Wally "wearing his original costume". I can only guess he meant the original kid flash costume which was basically barry's costume but smaller. So... Wally's "classic red flash" costume has been different from Barry's since Flash #50 (and has undergone some mods since) FOR ONE, and for two, even if Barry was speaking generally (which i have to assume he was), he shouldn't be suprised, because he'd had numerous adventures with the adult Wally flash in that (or a very similar) costume in his various time travel exploits. Sooo... why would he find a need to make a comment about it?
If its intentional, it would indicate to me that this ISN'T a re-constituted post-death Barry, but either a Barry out of the time stream (which would mean he's lying) or a FAKE. OR an easy out retcon marker if the whole Barry idea turns out to be flop.
More likely it was just an off comment.... (which, if i ever write the flash, will be fully exploited, let me tell you!).

I think my main problem with FC is that it seems so unconnected with the DCU. I appreciate that they didn't do another zillion Crisis tie-ins, but it's hard to think of EVIL as winning and all that, when every title is just doing it's usual thing, ya know?
I'm liking SI more than I thought I would, but, I think that's 'cause at this point, MARVEL has screwed up my favorite characters so much, that I don't recognize them anymore; therefore, I don't care what happens to them, and am able to just enjoy the ride. In fact, I keep saying, my FAVORITE Marvel title right for the past year or so, has been AVENGERS INITIATIVE, and that book is kicking ass during all this, so I guess I'm good.
I hope they are ALL skrulls. Or better yet, the Skrulls win, Earth 616 dies, and marvel starts over on one of the other earths, where the heroes still act heroic.

If I was a Marvel dude... I think I'd be pretty jazzed about Secret Invasion. In fact, I was pretty tempted to get the main SI books-- buuuuut... I'm already budgeting in a bunch of garbage with all these Johns FC titles!
I'm so so on FC not effecting other books. I think that, yeah, the idea of a huge crossover is that that its a huge crossover! But I also think that "huge crossovers" are so commonplace anymore that its kind of nice that regular titles aren't interrupted. And I like that fact that we've gotten some quality tie in books as well. Like books that rival the main mini-series itself! I mean, honestly.. if they had said "Okay, our big event for the year is Geoff Johns and George Perez doing a huge 3 LoSH crossoever" I'd be satisfied! At the same time, though, yeah-- You do get the feeling that its almost like an Elseworlds kind of thing because it doesn't seem to effect the other books.
They did do a little bit with the "dark side club." The only book I'm regular with that it effected, though was Flash... and even then they worked it into a totally unrelated arc (wally's kids got kidnapped briefly in the middle of the arc... it was... lame).
Bleah... I just want to see how it turns out. I think the big event, for me, was Barry coming back, and now I just kinda feel like... get it over with, bring on ReBirth already!
I'm much more interested in the johns tie-ins and New Krypton, etc...
