With the budding popularity of many independent companies and the growing readership and respect of graphic novels - do you think Wizard Edge should become something more than just the annual spotlight that it is? Do you think Wizard should possibly do a smaller offshoot mag dedicated to independent coverage and leave WIZARD as a mag that covers the big two and movies? An independent magazine could designate Image and Dark Horse exclusive coverage with Image and Dark Horse as the alternative mainstream's "big two". I think this would be great for the entire business, especially the independents that would finally get some much needed coverage.

Unless I'm wrong of course - but what do you guys think? I know I'd subscribe to a magazine like that .....(is there one out there already.....?)

There's not one that I'm aware of.
There is of course The Comics Journal, but that's not really what you're describing.

I've often wanted to start something like this, because yes, as you say, there's a real lack of coverage for this material in the industry.

Though, I really like your idea of it being a companion to Wizard's mainstream big two and media coverage, focused on everything else, with Dark Horse and Image being in the spotlight (as long as there's plenty of coverage beyond that). It makes a lot of sense, because all though those 2 companies are part of the big four, and get more coverage and retail support, there's still plenty of their material, of high quality, that could stand the extra attention (not as much as the rest of the market, but still).
