Been thinking about this for a few days now, and I've got a sneaky feeling that we're not done seeing the changes. First, some facts:
Avengers are disassembled, reformed as New Avengers and Mighty Avengers.
Mutants are decimated thanks to House of M.
Spider-Man's turned back the clock in One More Day.
All 3 brought major changes to the Marvel Universe.
Are we seeing the beginning of something more? Could Secret Invasion be another landscape-altering event to further reboot characters in the Marvel Universe? Think about it: Skrulls are everywhere, if we are to believe the hype. Who's a Skrull; who's not a Skrull, the question has no limits.
Hypothetically, half (or more) of the Marvel Universe is a Skrull, and once the dust settles, changes are going to happen. Just for the sake of argument, we find out that Luke Cage, Iron Man, Dr. Strange, Ms. Marvel, Punisher, Reed Richards, Johnny Storm, Colossus, Storm, Professor X, Wasp and Rogue are Skrulls (to name a few). Now that the Skrull menace has been solved, we find out that the original Luke Cage, Iron Man, Dr. Strange, Ms. Marvel, Punisher, Reed Richards, Johnny Storm, Colossus, Storm, Professor X, Wasp and Rogue have been held in captivity for the past 3 years. Some more, some less. So, everything that has happened lately to these characters didn't actually happen. For instance:
Luke Cage is not married, and Jessica's baby is not his.
Colossus is still dead.
Storm never married Black Panther.
We know that Black Bolt and Elektra were Skrulls, where are the real versions? Want an easy way to bring back Captain America? Steve Rogers was a Skrull, so problem fixed! And that's what I'm leading towards, the perceived "problems" that Marvel feels their little universe has and how this could be used to fix everything. Is Secret Invasion the next step after Avengers: Disassembled, House of M and One More Day?
