My first comic obsession was The Predator. I actually have the receipt that records the exact moment I bought my first comic. I own almost every Predator/AvP comic ever printed. …Even a few reprints too, just to be xtra geeky. I started to loose interest when the Predator kept getting put up against undefeated foes like Batman, Tarzan, and Robot Fighter. It was...discouraging to say the least. The Predator could never win! I mean com'on - like they'd let The Predator take out Bruce Wayne, the Dark Knight himself?! In my eyes the Predator, the hunters, later revealed to me as the 'Yautja' in the novelizations, were my heroes. Anti-hero...which ever you prefer.

The AvP comic set it in stone: Dachandé or Broken Tusk was/is my favorite Yautja. His recent movie adaptation (The first AvP movie) was a piece of sh*t!! That's another thread!

Anyhow...I went on to collect a few Aliens series. And even a few Hellraiser graphic novels. Some Tank Girl for fun. Is Tank Girl Dark Horse?

I still love my Predator Comics dearly. Anybody else have a soft spot for intergalactic big game hunters?

The only thing I ever did was watch the Predator movie with Arnold... does that count?

That's cool though that you have the reciept for the first comic you ever got. I remember most of the story of the first comic I ever owned but I don't remember what the title was. I think I was about ten years old though.

Why are we being spammed???

Anyways, yes I am a Predator fan. I always loved the first AvP. In fact check out this really cool pic (http://www.cgbrainchild.com/artwork/3d/images/3d0103.jpg), which I think the artist MUST have been inspired by the first AvP.

I agree with you about the whole idea of Predator vs Batman, Superman and all the others. Really, it's a separate entity and should remain so. But on the other hand I can't blame them for wanting to have some fun with the characters.

About the movies... okay I have to see them the same way I see all comic book movie adaptations. As a separate "what if". Granted, Hollywood's getting pretty damn good at getting it right lately. But as much as I loved The Incredible Hulk it still isn't the story as told in the comics. And I'm fine with that. So when I see these movies it's just for fun. The AvP movies have not been great but I've had fun watching them.

I totally understand the 'what if' concept. I'm an anime fan - and I've sene stories re-written - re-cast numerous times. I feel these re-writes were done badly.

I had very little fun as I watched them turn the Predator in to a joke.

Yautja hunt Xenomorphs in full plate armor in groups of 10. They're armed from head to toe for some serious ass kicking. They do not mess around. it's an awesome sight!

I really wanted to see those heavily armored bad-asses in the AvP movie. They do not use invisibility cause Xenomorphs can see them anyway. No stealth here...face to face combat. The movie made Broken Tusk - the lead hunter featured in the movie (and the comic) in to a host!!! GAWD!! Never mind the fact that ANY hunter who found that he's 'passed out' in a xeno infested pit would immediately check to see if he's been infected. And if he was - he would kill himself. [The original concept for the xenomorph/Predator hybrid was a fluke when a mortally wounded hunter failed to self detonate and found himself infected - he had no legs and arms...it was kinda funny]

They never seed (place xeno drones for hunting) an inhabited planet...too risky. They keep all Queens Off World. Again too risky. Let's keep a Queen on earth wooo - that's real clever.

The whole ' humans worship the Predators' thing was sooooo lame! Why? It just seems unnecessary. The drones don't NEED human hosts to gestate!

To conclude my crazy rant... I felt it was all dumbed down. It didn't have to be. The AvP comic story - had it been done well - would have floored audiences. Predator and Alien Fan's alike. Even newbies would have stopped and taken notice. It missed the mark by a couple of light years...

Maybe someone else will try harder next time. Maybe.

I absolutely have to agree with you. And while I did not enjoy it as an AvP comic fan I nonetheless had fun watching the movie. Even the dumber downed version of the sequel. As lame as it was. Still, we do have these and it gives me hope that some day the project will get into the right hands and a true adaptation of the comic (the very first AvP) will be seen. They really need to give all these adaptations (comics to film) to fan boys. Sam Raimi has proven fan boys are great film makers. Even if you didn't like Spider-Man 3 you still love Raimi's interpretation of the character. Of course not Venom, sorry. But I have a whole theory as to why Venom didn't work from him that could start a whole other thread. Anywho... in some ways Hollywood is starting to get it right. Let's hope they keep the streak up.

I do a little rain dance for that all the time. :)

Yes! Fan boys who are in still touch with other fans as a whole! I get tired of watching interview with clueless directors and producers - and casting directors who have been living in a cave.

You got me pinned there...Spiderman 3 - not a favorite but I like this Spiderman. And Venom....bingo. ;) Not good at all.

Speaking of Spiderman and to a lesser degree Iron Man: Robert and Toby in Tropic Thunder....Oh, gawd...if you haven't seen it! XD!!!!
