i have always wanted to get a letter printed... but the 3 letters i have written to comics in my life never quite made it, and now that we have message boards - I just kinda gave up on ever really trying.
especially since I can conversate with the creators on such a real time level -- why bother?
even if I really would secretly buy every issue i saw if i ever get a letter printed... I am just too unsure of what i would write that i wouldnt have already covered on a post here or there.
but I am curious when I see letters who I might know from the boards... so tell your story!
Be specific, let us know where we can read it!

Yup!
In a He-Man comic when I was about 6.
Can't even remember what it said, but I got a He-Man vinyl record and mug for my troubles.
I don't really think you'll be able to find it easily now, given that it was 1988.

Good topic!!
Under the Alias 'Talena Coba' I wrote in to Dark Horse - It took me a week of scouring the letter sections of my comics to see who/what they printed. Then I spent hours typing and retyping (on a type writer no less, no computer back then, ha!) Obviously my research paid off. I tried to be as energedic as I could and ask some pertnant questions. It helped that the person in charge of the reponse was female and eager to showcase female fans. My letter was printed in an issue (can't remember - maybe issue #4) of Aliens vs. Predator: Deadliest of the Species. I had the honor of being the first letter in the column for that issue. (I met my first boyfriend from that letter too.)
I really impressed myself with that letter. I was pretty entertaining too. :D
If anyone's interested in seeing my letter and the response I'd gladly share.

Hey, I was cruising around and just saw this topic. I, personally, have never gotten a letter published that I can think of (though I saw my WPF review quoted on Matt Anderson's ComicSpace, that was kinda cool)-- but I also can't really remember ever writing a letter.
Anyway, way back, when we both still lived in the same town (or state, for that matter) my pal, and Mastorism co-creator, Jeff got a letter published in SuperPatriot (the first series, I can't remember if it was a mini or what) #2. I think it comprised of "I loooooooove SuperPatriot!" I'll have to look for a copy to scan.
I miss the letter columns of the old days-- but nowadays, I guess with the ease of email and message boards, I'm sure the correspondence level is way higher than in snail mail days. I dig books that still run them, or at least have some information that's particular to that issue (ie - not the same Dan D column in every DC book out that week).
Obviously I don't have any huge following or anything, but I've been trying to respond to all the comments I get on Drunk Duck, and when I publish in print, I'd love to have a letters column!
Blah...
