I've only started reading GL since GL 25 and 26. It looks like now that Sinestro is on "death row" as Hal put it, he will be sentenced to death. Do you think the Guardians will go through with it? Or perhaps Sinestro might escape to fight on with what's left of the Sinestro Corps?

Ah, they won't let the character die. Doubt it, at least.

If they do I think they'll regret it and eventually bring him back anyway. If they can trap Parallax entity in their batteries, why can't they do something similiar with Sinestro?

I don't think Lobo would have as easy a time beatin Sinestro as you seem to think. The man trained Hal FREAKIN Jordan. 'Nuff said.

Sinestro was once imprisoned in the central power battery... he was also killed once already, too... If there is anything Geoff Johns does often, its reuse pieces of old GL history while retconning others. Regardless... I would suspect that the Guardians, as they are now... pricks and assholes who have rewritten the book of Oa becasue they found themselves fearful... I could see the Guardians truly planning to kill Sinestro... but Sinestro can't die. The Corps War is coming... the Blackest Night will be upon us in 2009... and with a war of 8 different lantern corps'... I'm sure Sinestro will somehow end up leading the corps of his namesake into battle.

I agree with Parry, Sinestro is too good of a character to let die and keep dead. He'll be leading the Sinestro Corps, and I have a feeling he and Hal will have to team up in the end to save the universe from the "darkest night" corps.

Bingo. They just started the "Secret Origins" arc this week, and I think we'll see more about Sinestro's relationship with Hal, a good set up for whatever they're going to go through with Darkest Night.

Anyway, getting rid of Sinestro would be like Superman losing Lex Luthor.

What cracks me up, is, how the guy's name is Sinestro... obviously a villain name, but then they build this back story about how he was the greatest lantern before Hal. I'm all for the back story, but I have to laugh when I think of a guy whose name is so clearly based on the word "sinister," being the greatest good guy of them all at one point.

Well, Sinestro was the greatest GL before Hal long before GEoff Johns got to retelling Hal's origin.

Weird how he made Adbin Sur scared that his ring would fail him. It was supposedly one of those prophecies that was supposed to come true like the Blackest Night prophecy, but it didn't. He failed to believe in his ring, the ring never failed him tho.

Yes... I think I'll re-read my copies of Giffen's Emerald Dawn 2 while I read this secret origins storyline.... Should be some interesting perspective.

You're right... I just think its funny when stuff like that comes up. "Who knew Dr.Evil Bad Guy would turn out to be such a jerk?"

I know, Matt.

Just once I'd like to see a Villain named "Pleasantro".
So people could be like "Well, that I didn't see coming!

Yeah, well for that matter, what the hell were Despero's parents thinking?
You can hear the parent/teacher conferences:
Teacher:"Little Despero just doesn't seem happy in school, and I was wondering if there were any problems at home?"
Mom: Mostly he sits up in his room, trying to subjugate his action figures....
