Cyclops vs Spiderman

My LCS shop owner thinks Cyclops can beat Spiderman in a straight up fight. I say he's crazy.

Spidey is stronger, faster, more agile, can shoot webs, and stick to walls.
Cyclops can shoot an optic blast, and that's pretty much it.

Stick them on a street in NYC or even in that training room at the X-Men's mansion and I say Spidey wins.

There is no way that Cyc could beat Spidey.

As already said. He has the agility and is a genius. The man made web shooters, he would definitely be able to outsmart Cyc

Cyclops can hit whatever he looks at. I am not sure just how fast the beams travel, but I am guessing that given some of the "wide range" I have seen his blasts produce before, he manages to take Spidey out.

Genius is raw ability, wisdom comes from experience.

In 99.999% of cases experience will overcome.

I think the new Cyclops would cross the line in the name of his cause. Spiderman, nope.

That alone can determine the outcome of a battle.

Well.... I wasn't going that route... I was going with the idea of the webbing taking hold on the back of his head and pinning his face to the ground... but since you brought it up....

I remember reading somewhere a while back that it takes even the Human Torch a while to burn through Spidey's webbing. Now I admit that I'm no expert on Cyclops, but I would wager that even if the webbing did cover his eyes instead of the back of his head it probably wouldn't be as cut and dry as just blasting it off.

Then we have the whole, "rip his visor off" angle. Scott Summers seems to have developed the "blow a whole in something and then close his eyes as tight as possible" reaction after realizing his visor has been ripped off of his head.

If his eyes are shut already, shooting some webbing on them to keep them shut doesn't seem like that far of a stretch to me.

And doesn't Cyclops need his hand to push the button on his visor to let out the optic blast? How does he do this with webbed hands?

adding to this apparently deceased thread, I'll give Cyke an even shot if he's in and open area, but if Spidey has any cover to work with, then I could see him getting the win

Spidey-sense makes him hard to hit or catch off-guard.
Heightened agility makes him more mobile and harder to hit or pin down.
Heightened strength makes his punches and kicks significantly more dangerous.
Heightened speed coupled with above points...
Constant nagging banter would get anyone's (except Deadpool) nerves enough to put them off their game a bit.
Properly targeted webbing and Cyclop's visor is gone. No control over blasts.
Cyclops can only shoot in the direction he's facing. Which means...
Spidey gets behind him (wall crawling + agility + speed) and cocoons him in web (web shooters + speed) and then punches him in the back of the head till he stops moving (super strength).

So let me get this straight, the leader of the x-men who has had to fight tooth and nail against everybody this side of hell (friend or foe) Who can bring down all that gets in his way just BY LOOKING AT IT!! versus your friendly neighborhood Spider-man my answer if you have not quessed it by this point is the snipers code: ONE SHOT ONE KILL

Cyke can hit what he looks at. Fine.

However, Spidey can move faster than Cyke can track, has dodged laser fire before, and only needs to hit Scott once to end it.

Besides, we all know that eventually Spidey webs up Cyke's visor then knocks him cold.

Spidey has team-wrecked a group of X-men (Secret Wars comes to mind), doubtful Scott can take him without some help/distraction.
