Reviewer Comments:
After SIEGE #1 delivered a base hit, Avengers fans where not let down when #2 came up to bat!

Once again, Brian Michael Bendis delivers a solid story that will unite the Avengers and bring them back to their glory days. Steve Rogers is back and he's as determined as he ever was to make things right and save his country. I can't say I was a fan of the partial chain mail he's rockin', but other than that Coipel's pencils where spot on.

After the last issue we were all stupified as to how Osborn had summoned the kahunas to stand up to Thor. Even with The Sentry his pawn, it takes a lot to stand up to Thor and bring the God of Thunder to his knees.

The battle that rages on in Asgard is awe inspiring... Balder crossing swords with Ares, Ares uncovering the truth and the lasting effects thereafter. The confrontation between Ares and Sentry leaves you as flabbergasted as when Osoborn droppped Thor in the previous issue.

This story arc is possibly the best Avengers story I've read yet. For the naysayers who think the story might "fizzle out", all I can say is that it's hard to fizzle out when it's this hot.

It's pretty damned contrived. The big "OMG" moment seemed shoved in for the SOLE PURPOSE of making people go "OMG". Didn't work.

And I am SICK TO DEATH of the SENTRY. Bendis has been forcing this "MOST POWERFUL BEING IN THE MU crap down our throats for several years now. Give Reed Richards 10 minutes, a rubber band, a broken solar powered calculator, three thumbtacks and a bowling ball, and he can stop this whiney putz, no problem.

I can't WAIT for this to end.

The "OMG" moment seemed like it was trying to show two things.

1. How powerful The Sentry really is and that if Thor has to take him on it's not going to be an easy task.
2. That the Void or just plain old insanity has taken hold of Sentry.

I think this is a build up to Bob making one last ditch effort to save humanity from the Void and sacrifice himself in the process and possibly taking Osborn with him, rebirthing the Avengers to their glory days.

Stop drinking the hater-ade man.

Oh, and I think you've mistaken Reed Richards for McGuyver. (Don't get me wrong he is a genius, but he's clearly no MacGuyver :p)

ok, I actually enjoyed this one, but I couldn't help asking halfway through, who are some of these people, and why should I care? now I will admit, I don't know the MU as well as some people, but when they had the splash page of the Avengers getting a pep talk from Cap, I recognized half of them, and the other half I had never heard of, now if they are young avengers or runaways, I get that, but I just didn't read enough in the story to make me care. and I really dislike the very idea of Sentry, you take Superman, remove his weaknesses and morality and make him insane, why? people say the dislike Superman because he is too powerful, then turn around and lavish praise on the Sentry. I guess I don't get it, I guess I would rather my heroes have a conscience and a strong moral code, but then again this is Marvel, only Cap has a conscience and a moral code (sorry, Spidey lost the right to make that claim when he made a deal with the devil) Oh well, aside from the Sentry parts I enjoyed this, just cut out the middle couple of pages, and you have a great comic.

well, I've been putting this whole thing off due to Marvel sucking latley. Since you give it such high review I guess I'll have to catch up

I finally got my copy today (my LCS actually sold out and couldn't fill pull lists) and all I have to say is "HOLY SHIT!"

yeah the consensus of people I have heard from is that that was officially a "Holy Shit" moment (for better or worse depending on your preferences)

Eff the Sentry. I liked him when he first came out (though not the whole ret-con origin so much), but he's just Osborn's meat puppet now.

Ares at least recognized in the end he was working for the wrong man.

yeah, question is, is Ares dead (he is a God after all) and how soon before he is back?

I hope he's not really dead, but who knows with Marvel. I remember in the 80s, or maybe even earlier, Hercules saying that the Olympians were one of the few godly races who could truly die and making a crack about Asgardians getting unlimited do-overs.
