When a masked individual starts killing people in Portland, Oregon, Cassie and Vlad go there with all intentions of stopping another slasher… what they find there doesn't end up being quite so cut and dried. Plus: a certain demonic puppy pops up in Wisconsin, and when Cassie's not available, it's up to the silent partners of Hack/Slash, Inc. to bring him down! Armed only with a pair of Cassie's dirty panties!!

Reviewer Comments:

Hack/Slash #11 does a good job of introducing readers new to the series into the ongoing plot and manages to hold its own weight as a stand alone short story. The title doesn't demand any previous knowledge of the characters or plot from the reader, and does a fine job of balancing the task of easing new readers into the universe while simultaneously pushing the storyline forward for current fans.

The story itself is interesting, as it revolves around a sort of demon hunter type female lead (think Buffy the vampire slayer) who is engaged in an ongoing hunt for what they call 'slashers' and for clues to her own mysterious past. This issue was jam packed with action and good humor with characters that aren't the cut and dry good versus evil variety, and bring their own unique personalities to the table. The art style for this issue is very engaging and suits the stories tone well with its detailed cartooning style that handles both the serious and humorous moments equally well.

Hack/Slash is shaping up to be a great series, and if this issue is any indication, it is very easy to pick up from any issue and still fully enjoy the content. Any comic with a reference to Doctor Who gets a grade A in my book, however quality writing and artwork are also a plus which this series seems to have plenty of. I fully recommend giving this title a look and will be looking forward to the next installment myself.
