Okay, I got JLA #0 so many issues back and it was great. They highlighted a lot of possibilities and teasers... I was so excited by #0 that I read the dang book for about 15 or so issues before I realized... it sucked.
Must have been a slow couple weeks for comics, as I had been away from the shop for 2 wednesdays, and I had next to nothing to get (regular title wise), and I see Flash on the cover of JLA. Ok... that was enough to get me to pick it up. Being a critic of the way the series was being handled, I opened it up and flipped through it and thought I'd take a chance. Why?
Well being critic of this book, my main gripes were that they tried to cram too many characters into the stories all at once. Yeah its a group book, but EVERY ISSUE shouldn't try and get every single character in there... My other gripe, as is with so many comics, its I'm kinda bored with the 6-issue story arc (aka the made for trade arc). This issue clearly focused on just the Flash and WW... cool.... story title didn't include "1 of..." (or worse "2 of..."), good... best part, flipped to last page and saw "the end" at the end... self contained story!
Okay, the fact that Ethan Van Scriver drew it MIGHT have had some impact on me getting it.
ANYWAY, it was good. It was good as a Flash yarn especially (I notice the better Flash stories haven't been in his own book...).
I can't say if this will keep up, or what... but I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed the story...
