I picked this up at free comic book day yesterday (in fact, had to sacrifice one of my 2 free books for it as my shop opted to make this 50 cent book free for the day, despite my insistence that i would pay for it so i could get another book... good thing they counted my 1 year old as a customer!)
Anyway... Its mostly one big advertisement. No surprise there... but i was reading it and the whole thing was narrated by someone and you have to wonder who. The narrative captions were black with a sliver of red on the right side, and each page the red sliver grew and grew... I was thinking... who could it be narrating this?
So then I went off that for a bit and started noting the layout of the book.. IE- 2 or 3 pages of "preview" and then a full page ad for whatever big story line they were pitching (Batman RIP, the LoSH and Supes vs LoSV and Prime mini-series, some wonder woman series (oh, cashing in on 300 thre... a shipload of spartans!), Blackest Night, etc). But there was no big storyline pitch for my favorite character.... y'know the OTHER top tier DC character... THE FLASH!
Bummed at seeing no full page ad for a Flash storyline, I went back to my place in the story and continued.... then it hit me.... i flipped forward and the narratives got more red...
***Not really a spoiler alert, but... I'm basically spelling this book out here cause i'm so dang excited***
Then a faint lighting bolt appeared. Screw reading, I flipped to the last page! KRACKOOM! Full red narrative caption box with a nice lightning bolt on the side... it's BARRY, baby!
Y'know what? I'm not pissed about it (yet, we'll see how it's handled).
--that said--
A couple things to ponder...
Starting with a black caption turning into a red one... could Barry have been the Black Flash?
Since we've heard his full return is in the last issue of FC, could he be returning to save the universe again?
Will his return be short lived? Will Wally die?
big question: If barry gets his own book back, will it continue the same numbering as before!?!? hehehe....
one this is for sure: My copy of Crisis on Infinite Earths #8 is going up in value!
"When the greatest evil comes back to the DC Universe, the greatest hero needed to return."
