Publishers Blurb:
The Witch Hunters come to the fore in this five issue mini-series from the same team that brought you WARHAMMER: FORGE OF WAR. Tireless foes of Chaos in the Warhammer universe, Witch Hunters roam the Empire seeking to stop the spread of dark magic and witchery of all kinds. When Witch Hunter Magnus Gault hears that the nearby village of Loughville has fallen prey to the canker of Chaos, he is driven to investigate. Once there, he finds the buildings rancid and rotted and the villagers wretched and mutated - eager to prey upon any lost soul who should come their way. Can one man stand against this monstrous regiment? Warhammer 40,000 novelist Dan Abnett, multiple Eisner Award-nominee Ian Edginton, and fan-favorite artist Rahsan Ekedal return to bring you another tale from the epic, fantasy realm that is Warhammer!

Approximately 20% of codes submitted will be invited to participate in the WARHAMMER: AGE OF RECKONING Beta Test. The promotional code must be activated by May 31, 2008 to be eligible for the Beta Test.

Reviewer Comments:
This is the first Warhammer title I've read, and as far as the art is concerned, the publishers website says this issue is full color, I had to go back and double check before writing this review. I guess either the colors weren't that memorable, that was the look they were going for, or I'm just getting old and need to start taking ginkbiloba. (That's the one for memory, isn't it?) At any rate the title itself didn't seem to me to be anything extraordinary, but I've seen much worse.

It opens with Witch Hunter Magnus Gault chasing some evil doer who is apparently pretty hard to track, especially in a downpour of rain. There are some scenes which seem to be meant to build up the clout behind Witch Hunters and Magnus eventually ends up in a town of what appear to be the undead or some other type of malformed kind of people that he's forced to battle.

I won't spoil it for you, but I'm pretty sure you can guess whether he wins or not. Probably the biggest thing I didn't like about the issue was the fact that you weren't brought to care about whether this character lived or died. Perhaps if you were a previous reader of the other Warhammer books you would know his history and perhaps care a little more about the character. It seemed to me like watching the first fifteen minutes of a movie and then going... "that's it?". Anyway, I can't say that I'd recommend this issue, but we'll keep our fingers crossed for the second issue.
