After more than a thousand years of peaceful coexistence, Atlantis and the surface world are on the brink of war, with the fate of both civilizations hanging in the balance. This issue begins the war that will decide the fate of all humanity and Atlanteans.
Reviewer Comments:
This book is basically Namor's first re-appearance in Fantastic Four on steroids. Coming in at issue five (of five), it was difficult for me to really get the grasp of what was going on. The gist of it, though, is that Atlantis has had enough of the surface dwellers garbage (literally, in some cases)... particularly America, and are fighting back!
The rumor mill is that Dreamworks is interested in developing this into movie, so maybe I'm not catching onto something by coming in at issue five. That said, I'm going to recommend that if you're interested in this book, you might want to start with issue one (or wait for the trade). I was fairly lost at what was going on. The art, while attractive in its own way, was not very descriptive as to help me understand what the heck was going on.
While the concept is interesting, and the story probably good, unfortunately I found the overall execution to be a major hinderance to this book.
