No, Kory is not dumb at all, she's basically a Tamaran version of Captain America (that is to say she is enhanced physically and was trained by the Warlords of Okaara, ie. Elite Commando spec ops, and after some Psion experiments her natural ability to fire energy bursts was amplified greatly)
