Over the next 100 years genetics will evolve to bring about a new era. Science will begin a campaign in 2021 to eradicate all genetic diseases from the earth. Great strides will be made in the following years beyond what anyone thought was possible. However, the world itself is beginning to be depleted of its resources, air quality slowly becomes diminished to toxic levels, harmful chemicals and hormones are added to food at unbelievable levels. Many nuclear plants explode leaving high residues of radiation. Almost half of the world's population become infertile leaving the human race at risk for extinction. From these events, science saw an opportunity. It envisioned creating a new species of human kind which would contain the smartest, fastest, strongest, and healthiest genes possible. Ones that could survive better in the toxic new world. What if this, "Perfect Human" could be made to repopulate the earth, they proposed? What if it borrowed the best DNA material from animals to carefully craft a human who would still be human yet possess amazing abilities?

Many protested the coming waves of events. Soon genetically enhanced humans were created. Some possessing the speed of the great cats, the eyesight of a hawk, or the strength of a bear. None however still maintained the physical characteristics of a human being. They became half-human, half-beasts. Public outcry and protests caused science to frantically race to perfect its plan for the perfect human. Many years passed and whole groups came from these experiments. A law was passed they could not be destroyed once born. These genetically enhanced humans soon began to populate the earth, living alongside non-enhanced humans. Though not without fear and hatred.

The End

Hundreds of years passed. The end of the world came. It was an event prophesized in every religious text known to man. Volcanoes all over the world erupted at once, tidal waves destroyed continents, earthquakes and fires spread across the land destroying almost everything. Some say that what happened was inevitable due to humans own destruction of their world. Almost no one survived. Those few left now lived in a deadly world with black seas and poisonous air, with only contaminated food and water. Human's that had been genetically enhanced were surviving better than humans who were not. The first era of the human race was dying out.

Mysteriously, a chemical began appearing on H'trae. It was called Blue, for it was the color of its liquid. It could be put on anything and turn the most contaminated water crystal clear, it made any food edible, and even worked for a time in masks to cleanse the air. No one could duplicate its substance and no one knew where it was made or how it seemed to be everywhere in a world with little communication or means. It extended the lifespan of all on H'trae and made living, for a short moment, bearable.

Years have passed and answers have begun to surface about what this strange chemical is and what its purpose is for...

Reviewer Comments:
I reviewed issue #1 back in March and the Earth Son's story is so unique and entertaining I had no problem picking up where I left off over two months ago. Parker's Earth Son's #2 picks up with Aleyen and Leeyal making their way across the desert and to the city of Zanrtacus. Once there Aleyen is offered wealth and prosperity to take on a dangerous mission infiltrating the factory that makes the substance known as blue, for the Katawa.

In the first issue, we find Setrar being summoned back to Sonlar, his home in the sky and now we find him being given a mission of his own from his father Lord Nos. Setrar is to investigate the disappearances of the four Earth Sons, near the same factory that Aleyen is set to infiltrate. I see these two crossing paths soon and with their characters being built up, I'm guessing confrontation isn't far behind. With both characters in for a surprise from those they thought to be trustworthy though, we may see an old fashioned team up butt kicking.

The imagination of Parker is amazing and Logan delivers stunning artwork that gives the title the professional look the story demands. Logan's detail in the comic is remarkable and at times I found myself doing a double take to enjoy it once again before moving on to the next panel.

If you get a chance to check out Dark Ocean Studios, I definitely recommend it. Hopefully they can start coming out with their works a little more consistently, but if this issue is any indication, it's worth the wait.
