Wow. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, about THE TRAVELER is a winner.
The concept. The characterization. The story. The art.
Winner, winner, winner, winner.
This is some of Waid's BEST stuff at BOOM! The Taveler, or Kronus, as he's dubbed by someone he saves, is one of the four forces. He can, in his own words, "Do some neat stuff" with TIME. The other forces, or split-second men, control Electro-magnetism, Decay, and one he doesn't even want to talk about.
Can't WAIT to meet him!
And, while the story is pure Waid, you can still feel STAN LEE within the concept. There's something very "Excelsior" about The Traveler.
Anyway, our hero's uniform is an actual uniform, and we can see from the fast-paced get-go, that there's more to him and the split-second men that we're seeing up front.
Chad Hardin delivers some strong visuals, very old-school dynamic. Plus, his lines are crisp, clean, and sure, just like I like 'em. And he's got some great facial expressions.
These STAN LEE/BOOM! books are really quite good, and so far, TRAVELER is my favorite. If we had a sixth star, this'd get it!
