I want to also bring up 52, as it is really fun and has an all-star lineup of creators, and was one of the most ambitious projects in recent years (I keep rereading it, and finding little bits I missed before, and I still think there are many things I have yet to find) how can you go wrong with Grant Morrison, Geoff Johns, Greg Rucka, Mark Waid, and Keith Giffen?

The more I think about the Secret Six volumes, the more I'm convinced all three should be read. That way we get to see the evolution of the team from the beginning, to the horribly disfuctional, self destructive, near-family they are now.

So, the six issues of Villains United. The six issues of the first Secret six. And then probably seven issues of the second Secret Six (just to avoid reading six, six, six ) I think I know the perfect arc for the second Six volume, I just don't have the issue numbers on hand at the moment.

I LOVE the Secret Six, always at the top of my read pile I may not have all of the issues, but through trades I know all of the stories, great choice IMO

A second nomination for Secret Six from tiggerpete puts that up at the top of the shortlist alongside Fables and Buffy.

on the crisis aspect, maybe we could do Crisis, Infinite Crisis and Final Crisis to see how they fit together

as for Green Arrow, we could do all of Kevin Smith's run and Archer's quest (written by Brad Meltzer, and a great look at GA's history including my favorite issue title of all time "Grundy no Like Arrows in Face") or throw in Longbow Hunters and Hard traveling heroes to do a character study on how a character changes through different ages in comics Bronze Age (hard traveling heroes) Dark Age (Longbow Hunters) and Modern Age (Quiver) interestingly enough, all of the stories I mentioned are towards the beginning of, and in some ways instrumental to the different ages represented.

just an idea

I actually considered the Crisis trilogy idea myself, so that sounds good to me. And a "Green Arrow through the ages" meeting is also something worth considering.

A Crisis trilogy (or even quadrilogy? Identity Crisis) would be epic.

Even though I've never been a Buffyverse fan, I like the idea of comparing and contrasting various tv-based comics. We could examine how good they are, and how good they are at introducing readers to the show's universe, or do they require prior knowledge before reading. Every few meetings could be another look at some. There's a big list. Just off the top of my head of more recent shows:

Stargate
Buffy
Highlander
Firefly
Chuck
Human Target (2010 edition)
Supernatural

And now that I mentioned it, Human Target could qualify for the multiple volume examination. It was a backup story for a number of books like Action Comics and Detective Comics in the 70's, had a Vertigo run at the turn of the century, and is currently starting a DC run based on the show that came out this year.

I have to say, Human Target is a lot of fun, I have kept up with it, and I think there should be more action/thriller type comics from the "big two" that doesn't involve capes and tights, a nice change of pace IMO I haven't read any of the others except for Firefly which I love the show, but the comic seemed lacking for some reason I can't explain.

Yeah, even I didn't like the firefly comics all that much.
